Types of Missions
Emergency Architects is involved in many different types of humanitarian operations, not only emergency situations but also in development.
- Projects accomplished by Emergency Architects can be mandates developed by international NGOs, in their aid operation frameworks.
- Having acquired much expertise over the years, Emergency Architects also organizes its own humanitarian missions, either on its own initiative, or upon the request for intervention from the people or government. One such mission is the rehabilitation of the town of Kitcisakik, where the living conditions of the Anicinape people of the Algonquin First Nation population are simply unacceptable.

How missions work
Architects and other professionals of Emergency Architects are called upon to lead interventions pertaining to these catastrophes in the following phases :
- Evaluation: In the event of a catastrophe and in order to organize an efficient plan of action, one must be able to, thanks to photographic and mapping capabilities, understand quickly the phenomenon and its consequences on the population, estimate the magnitude of the disaster and identify the human and material means to be organized in order to secure and safely house the affected people. The architects of Emergency Architects are the best positioned to proceed with an evaluation, as a team of professionals, of infrastructure, buildings and the environment.
- Project Planning: Keeping in mind the needs of the people and the local context (climate, soil conditions, availability of labour and materials, etc.) the architects of Emergency Architects plan the different phases of intervention in the field

- Sustainable Development: The choice of concepts and materials are made in order to provide a sustainable solution for the benefit of the users and to avoid the damage caused by the catastrophe to be repeated. The architects of Emergency Architects evaluate the standards of anti-seismic, anti-cyclonic, flame spread, etc. and develop reconstruction plans with long-term objectives.
- Project and Budget Definition: Emergency Architects emphasizes technological solutions adapted to the local context and defines concrete interventions and evaluates the needs in financial and human resources.
